A deep and abiding love of Oriental Beauty

A deep and abiding love of Oriental Beauty

From Yunnan Sourcing and based on a recommendation from TEAdb, WU YI SHAN ROCK TEA 'CLASSIC ROU GUI' OOLONG SPRING 2015

I have seen James and Denny discuss this tea, and had to try it for myself.
They reviewed it thus:

"Rougui (Yunnan Sourcing) – $0.16/g
I loaded up on this pretty hard about 18 months ago after tasting through all of YS Yancha. It’s a very friendly tea and its appeal is obvious. Good aroma, mineraly and slightly chocolatey. With infusions kept short, you get more chocolate, charcoal, stone fruits rather than a more bitter brew. It numbs the bottom of the mouth with the aftertaste gradually moving to the top part of the mouth. At this point, I’m all out having given a lot away to friends. It’s still a great intro to gong-fu tea due to it’s appeal to the nose
It should also be noted that this is among the lighter-roasted Wuyi options (similar to the Tieluohan). This makes it pretty nice to drink now, but it isn’t exactly your standard mid-roasted Wuyi."

As for myself, I will be waiting to try this one until I am sure I have the initial parameters correct and the right brewing vessel.
Yunnan Sourcing also included this sample labelled, 'PURE BUD BI LUO CHUN YUNNAN', wonder how THAT will be? Very excited especially with the name 'PURE BUD' on it, makes me feel like I'm a fixin' to get stoned!
And lastly, don't judge either me for buying it, or YS for selling it, but for five bucks I had to have them send me one of these Hotei color changing tea mascots. And you know I already tried that, could hardly wait to pour boiling water on the good fellow! Rather boring results, from the dark green jade to a lighter green. Ah well. The tea is the thing, after all, and I will be sharing the impressions of a newbie on both these offerings with you soon!
