A deep and abiding love of Oriental Beauty

A second try at Verdant Tea's Spring Tieguanyin.

The note was a nice touch!
As some of my readers may recall, my first experience with Tieguanyin was a sample sent in a promotional offering from Verdant called, "5 teas For $5" and the Tieguanyin was all 'piece-y and dusty' and I didn't know what to call it aside from 'shake'. I was new to tea, and had never seen Tieguanyin but I knew this couldn't be a proper representation of it.
Verdant was glad I contacted them about this and made it right, as so many of you told me they would. So this is my second time ordering Tieguanyin from Verdant, also a sample I chose along with my order of their wonderful Yunnan White Jasmine which I highly recommend!
I followed the parameters to a 'T' on the back of the (new) packaging, and used 4 grams out of the 5.6 grams in the sample in my 6 ounce Gaiwan. It was nice looking coming out of the bag, totally different from that initial sample, smelled wonderful in the bag and the tea itself was a total delight.
I can see why Tieguanyins are popular. Verdant, vegetal but smooth, really nice. It was too hot for me brewing it at 205f as they instructed and I burned the hell out of my soft little fingers but that's how it goes sometimes, right? I treated myself to a third and fourth steeping at my preferred temp of 180 and enjoyed it much more, the temperature, the flavor, and the ability to hold the broth in my mouth longer without risking my tongue.
Prepping the gaiwan and cups
I will certainly be trying a lot more Tiguanyins in the future. Thanks to Verdant and congratulations on your move!
